Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram marketing – What you need to know crash course in 5 minutes

crash-courseThey’re three giants when it comes to promoting your business, but it’s not enough just to have Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram– you’ve got to be using them well. And that means keeping up with trends and utilising new features. It doesn’t have to take a lot of time, effort or money, but it is important to keep making small changes so your businesses social media is relevant and productive. Here’s the latest things you need to know:

Facebook

Advertising algorithms on Facebook go through changes, so chances are if you haven’t updated your Facebook advertising strategy lately, it probably isn’t working as well as it could be. The latest algorithm changes mean personal content is prioritized over public content like news, videos and brands. Facebook has done this to focus on their fundamental ideas which are to bring people together and build connections. For business owners this means you’ve got to develop a personal approach to your brand, while encouraging viewers to share and spread you and your message. Your page needs to be followed to build viewers. To do this make sure you encourage people not to just read your posts, but to follow and continue interacting with your page. Mix up the type of posts you share and make sure you continue to share video content. Video is still red hot in social media and will get viewers on your page. These things should be done in addition to paying for some posts to be boosted. Just paying money alone won’t get you far, but it is important if you want those big posts to get that reach.

LinkedIn

Our favourite business social media is growing. Now there are over 500 million monthly LinkedIn users, so if you’re not on LinkedIn, you’re missing a market! Like most social media, video is becoming more relevant and widely used on LinkedIn. If you’ve just got a basic LinkedIn page and you’re not using the extra features, you’ve got some new things to try!

Video native launched last year– which if you didn’t know is a feature that allows you to upload videos from your phone or mobile to your LinkedIn page. It’s been shown to get longer and more consistent views than a YouTube link. It’s your chance to showcase your brand or service so viewers can get a visual of what it’s all about. The ads can only been shown on mobile devices, but given the market for LinkedIn is mostly phone based, this isn’t a huge problem. Give it a try!

Instagram

What started off as a very personal social media space has now been attracting more and more businesses. There’s a lot of money and business to be made on Instagram. In fact, there are over 25 million businesses on Instagram! The client and networking potential is huge. But what are the new changes? You may have noticed the “recommended for you” section recently. This takes sponsored content and puts it in the feeds of people who interact with similar posts. This means with a bit of extra money your posts can be delivered straight to a viewer that is likely to respond to it. Amazing!

Hashtags are also increasingly important as users can now follow major hashtags in the same way they can follow users. Be sure you’re pumping out those catchy hashtags! Take note of what other similar business tag and what’s trending, and use the same hashtags in your own posts. If people are following that hashtag, your post is going to get more views. Nice and easy.
