20 Ways to Increase Your Social Media Engagement

Social Media Engagement

Each week our tribe gets together for a little marketing catch up, to go over all the latest in social media news, discuss new ideas, select our next monthly focus and look over all our channels to see how each is performing.

As you might have guessed, some weeks are better than others, and that’s totally normal. Not everything can be at its peak day in day out, but there are some handy tips and tricks to ensure that you are aiming for the best results, ALWAYS!

This month we decided to share our top 20 ways to increase your social media engagement.

Let’s get into it!

1. Share Posts To Your Story

There are so many benefits to sharing posts to your stories, not only does it widen your audience (sorry to break it to you, but not everyone will see it on the feed) but it also highlights the importance of your post. Don’t miss this simple opportunity.

2. Include Relevant Hashtags In Your Posts

We’ve spoken about hashtags before, we even have a whole blog dedicated to that! But that’s because they are important, so be sure to use them and use them wisely. If you’re not sure how … we can help with that.

3. Include A CTA In Your Text And Imagery

Don’t leave your audience feeling lost! Including a CTA such as ‘Head to the link in my bio’ is going to tell your followers exactly what you want them to do.

4. Add Highlight Collections To Your Profile

A true favourite of all of ours here at Social Media Tribe. Use your highlights to show off the best bits of your business. It could be as simple as introducing your team or listing your services.

5. Interact With Your Target Audience

We know this is easier said than done, but sometimes just spending 5-10 minutes per day liking and replying to comments and messages can make a huge difference in your engagement.

6. Create Engaging Videos

Videos are a great way to capture your audience’s attention, but they need to stand out. And especially in the first 3-5 seconds of the video, if you don’t have an interesting hook your audience will keep on scrolling.

7. Be Authentic

STAY TRUE TO YOUR BRAND! Live it, breathe it, be it – without authenticity your viewers and potential customers will lack understanding and connection and head on over to your competitors.

8. Create And Share Valuable Content

Don’t post just for the sake of posting. Although consistency is important, which we will touch on shortly, valuable content will always get you further.

9. Keep The Conversation Flowing

Reply to comments, no matter how old the post may be. Not only is this building your engagement stats, but it’s building your online community too.

10. Create And Share Content On A Regular Basis

Consistency is key to building your following and engagement on social media. This doesn’t mean pressuring yourself into posting every day – find a regular schedule that works for you and stick to it.

11. Repurpose ‘Evergreen’ Content

If something is good, why change it? Evergreen content is content that is always popular or relevant to your business. Repurposing content saves you time and helps get your message out consistently.

12. Know Your Audience

Knowing your audience and knowing them well will drastically make a difference in your social media engagement, especially when you start spending money on paid ads.

13. Respond To All Comments And Messages In A Timely Manner

Keeping up a relatively quick response time is a sure way to keep your social media engagement high. We know that responding at the best of times can be tricky when you are juggling a business, but setting an auto-response is a great way to help with this.

14. Run Contests And Giveaways

It may not be something you need to do all the time, but running comps and giveaways that can tie in with a business event you’re running, or the launch of a new project, is a really easy way to push your engagement levels that extra mile.

15. Use Emojis

Straight from our Emoji Queen 👸this tip comes as a reminder to utilise emojis through your captions 💬 stories 📲 EDMs 🖥 .. the LOT! Not only do emojis add character to your content, but they add a visual component to your captions which will help draw people’s attention. 👀

16. Strategise Wisely

It’s been said time and time again, but without a plan of action are you really achieving the best results? With a strategy in place, you are guaranteed to get the best results across the board.

17. Be More Human

Show your more human side more often. This might include a behind-the-scenes sneak peek, introducing yourself or your team, or even sharing a personal success. This will help you build a rapport with your audience and connect with them on a personal level – even through a screen.

18. Use Analytics Tools To Monitor Engagement

Analytics is the best way to track your progress and give you insight into where you may be falling short on the mark. With tools like these, you can work out what posting times and what type of content engages best with your audience.

19. Encourage User-Generated Content

There are so many ways to incorporate UGC or CGC (consumer-generated content) into your platforms that will help lift your engagement. Think of things such as reviews or customers tagging you in photos or videos. Tying this in with a point made earlier about being more human and showing responses from other humans is the perfect way to build trust in your growing audience.

20. Use Tags And Mention Your Followers

If you’re looking for a quick way to get your followers to interact, bring them straight to the conversation by tagging them! All you need to do is use the @ symbol followed by their username when typing a post or comment.

Wow – what a list!

We think this might be our biggest one yet, so let’s quickly recap. If you’re struggling to see the engagement levels you were hoping for across your social media profiles, then maybe it’s time to implement an overall strategy designed to get the best out of your business.
